Lutry is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud, located in the district of Lavaux.
Geography
Lutry is located on the shores of Lake Geneva and borders the municipalities of Paudex and Belmont-sur-Lausanne to the east, Savigny to the north and Villette to the west.
History
Menhirs in Lutry
The picture shows an arrangement of menhirs that were found in 1984 when a car park was built in the town center. The menhirs were re-erected next to it in the original formation. They probably date from the beginning of the Bronze Age.
- In 1824, the villages of Lutry and Savigny separated from each other to form their own municipalities.
- In 1836 the old port was built.
- In 1854, the owner of the castle of Lutry was given the town by its owner, Juste Charles Antoine de Crousaz.
- From 1950 onwards, the villages developed considerably with an increase of residents from 3,500 in 1960 to 5,860 in 1980.
- In 1998, a new port was built.
