Achampet, also known locally as Peta is located in Mahbubnagar district in the Andhra Pradesh state of India. The town is also taluka headquarters, it is a State Assembly constituency reserved for SCs. The current MLA is P. Ramulu. Achampet is also famous for maoists and naxal movement in Andhra Pradesh

Achampet is located at 80°7′27″E / 16.62417°N 80.12417°E / 16.62417; 80.12417Coordinates: 80°7′27″E / 16.62417°N 80.12417°E / 16.62417; 80.12417[1] in the foothills of the Nallamala Forest and is just about 13 kilometres from the Umamaheswaram temple which is located in Rangapur village. It is approximately 100 kilometres from Hyderabad, Srisailam, and Mahabubnagar.
